Virtual Mental Health Services & Support

With the significant increase in individuals diagnosed with mental health and substance use disorders over the past decade, individuals who reside in the state of Maryland and are suffering from these ailments can receive telehealth treatment through Connecting the DOTS, LLC.

Given that everyday obligations are so demanding, a substantial number of individuals receiving mental health treatment have found that telehealth services are more effective. Our practice places emphasis on telehealth because it provides flexibility and reduces barriers for clients that prevent them from conveniently receiving care.

Although telehealth services are the foundation of Connecting the DOTS, LLC’s behavioral health and mental health services model, our headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, offers in person individual and group behavioral and mental health services on an appointment basis only for individuals who prefer in-person sessions as opposed to virtual sessions.

The Connecting the DOTS, LLC, telehealth platform is fully HIPAA compliant and safeguards clients' confidentiality and privacy.

Group Therapy

At Connecting the DOTS, LLC, we believe it is beneficial for clients to connect with peers in order to realize that they are not alone. When treating major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, or other mental health issues, hearing from people who have experienced similar challenges can help individuals understand that they are not alone in facing these challenges.

Types of Groups that are Offered at Connecting the DOTS, LLC.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Group:

The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) group offers extensive education to individuals who are interested in understanding the science behind how thoughts influence behaviors.

Even without a mental health or substance abuse diagnosis, many of us struggle to separate our ideas from the rest of our brain. Understanding how to recognize negative thought patterns and reframe them is very important for recovery.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Group:

The main objectives of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are to help individuals learn how to be present, create healthy coping mechanisms for stress, control their emotions, and enhance interpersonal relationships. DBT has been proven to be beneficial for the management and treatment of a variety of mental health disorders, such as borderline personality disorder (BPD), self-harm, suicidal behavior, substance use disorder, and more.

Process/Interpersonal Group

Commonly referred to as an Interpersonal Group, the Process Group works primarily in the "here and now." Our clinicians will work one-on-one with each participant to understand how they are responding to what is happening in the group session, to validate and connect with their current situation, and to offer education on how to apply skills acquired in groups to real-life situations.

Skill-Based Groups

We place emphasis on after-school groups to help peers manage self-esteem issues, depression, or individuals who need a safe place to connect with peers therapeutically to discuss issues they are facing at home, school, or in the community.

Our skill-based group endeavors to join individuals who are dealing with issues like workplace burnout, trauma, grief, and/or issues managing their anger and emotions.

We offer 4-week skill-based groups that provide methods for managing anger, communicating effectively, resolving conflicts, etc. This group will meet virtually once a week for one hour.

The skill group schedule will alternate monthly to better ascertain real-world challenges and situational presence.
